6 Employees of JUST Dismissed, 2 on Compulsory Retirement

Eight officials and employees working at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) were found to have fake certificates. Six of them were dismissed and two were forced to retire.

At the same time, action will be taken against them according to the prevailing laws of the state and the university, said Abdur Rashid, assistant director of the public relations department of the university.

These decisions were taken at the 90th meeting of the Regent Board, the highest policy-making forum of the university, on Saturday (May 13) at noon.

The dismissed officers and employees are - Technical Officer Md. Zahid Hasan, Section Officer (Grade-1) Md. Jahangir Alam, Section Officer (Grade-2) Md. Sakib Islam, Section Officer (Grade-2) Mst. Hasna Hena, Senior Cleaner Dilip Horijon, and Cleaner Basudeb Das.

At the same time Section Officer (Grade-1) Md Mahidul Islam and Mechanic Md. It has been decided to send Zakir Hossain into compulsory retirement.

Abdur Rashid of the Public Relations Department said that the investigation board's report on technical officer Md Helalul Islam has been accepted, but due to legal complications, a decision will be taken later.

Besides, the investigation committee has found evidence of involvement in recruitment irregularities against Deputy Director of Public Relations Department Md Hayatuzzaman.

Abdur Rashid said that the three committees related to the verification of the certificate submitted reports to the Board of Regents separately. Later, the board of regents took action against the officials and employees who had fake certificates after getting the truth of the incident.

Vice-Chancellor and President of the Board of Regents Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain presided over the meeting. Member of Parliament for Jessore-3 Constituency and Member of the Board of Regents Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Additional Secretary (University) of the Ministry of Education Md. Abu Yusuf Mia, Joint Secretary (Development-3) Syeda Nowara Jahan were present in the meeting, National Institute of Biotechnology Director General Md. Salimullah, Jashore Regional Agricultural Research Institute Chief Scientific Officer Kawshar Uddin Ahmed, Bangladesh Accreditation Council member Professor Golam Shahi Alam and UGC Professor Sharif Enamul Kabir were present at the meeting.

Besides, Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd Md. Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital and Research Institute Chief Executive Officer Dr. MA Rashid, Jeshore Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Chairman Professor Ahsan Habib, Iqbal Kabir Zahid of Microbiology Department, Syed Md Ghalib of Computer Science and Engineering Department, Mehdi Hasan of Accounting and Information Systems Department were also there.
